Niettemin is de gestructureerde hatha yoga volgens veel bronnen een vrij recente ontwikkeling. Deze aftakking heeft tal van wijzigingen ondergaan als gevolg van volksvermengingen en andere invloeden die reikten van de Indus tot in Nepal en Tibet. Een ontwikkeling die nog lang niet gestopt is. Een van de vroege hatha yoga-klassieken kent slechts 15 yogahoudingen (asana&rsquo;s).
