De Upanishads<\/span> zijn esoterische en filosofische verhandelingen die doorgaans het laatste deel van de Veda’s vormen. De Veda’s zijn Indiase religieuze en filosofische geschriften. De Upanishads<\/span> zijn het kennisgedeelte, of Jnana-Kanda<\/span>, van de Veda’s. Ze worden gezien als fundamentele waarheden. De tijdloze leer van de Upanishads<\/span> is terug te vinden in alle mystieke stromingen in de wereld.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

De Upanishads<\/span> behoren tot de ‘Shruti’ geschriften. Ze worden ook wel ‘de adem van Brahma<\/span>’ genoemd en zijn ontstaan door directe inspiratie van het Absolute Brahma<\/span>n. De Rishi’s (wijzen) beoefenden yogische methodieken zoals zelfonderzoek en meditatie op het zuivere, innerlijke Zelf en bereikten Zelfrealisatie. Daardoor waren ze geestelijk zover ontwikkeld dat ze de woorden van Brahma<\/span>n intuïtief en direct waarnamen.
