De rig<\/span> Veda beschrijft in detail de sociale, religieuze, politieke en economische achtergrond van de Rig<\/span>-Vedische beschaving. Het is het oudste boek in elke Indo-Europese taal en bevat de vroegste vorm van alle Sanskriet-mantra’s die dateren uit 1500 voor Christus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

De Rig<\/span>-Veda is het oudste van de vier godsdienstige hindoegeschriften die bekendstaan als de Veda’s. De Rig<\/span>-Veda is ontstaan tussen 1700 en 1100 voor Christus. Deze veda bestaat uit 1017 reguliere verzen plus 11 apocriefe verzen 8.49 – 8.59; in totaal 1028 verzen. Ze zijn geschreven in het vedisch Sanskriet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

De lange verzameling korte verzen bestaat vooral uit lofzangen voor de natuurgoden. De drie belangrijkste goden die worden vernoemd zijn Agni<\/a>, de god van het vuur, Indra<\/span><\/a>, god van de donder en bliksem en Surya<\/a>, de zonnegod. Het bevat ook fragmentarische<\/span> verwijzingen naar historische gebeurtenissen, in het bijzonder verwijzingen naar de strijd tussen de vroege vedische volkeren (bekend als de Ariërs of Arya’s) en hun vijanden, de Dravidiërs<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
